A work placement that showcased maturity and dedication
One of the defining strengths of Tyler’s journey has been his outstanding work ethic. During his placement at Ely House with the Local Authority, he went far beyond the required 400 hours, volunteering for additional ad‑hoc tasks and demonstrating reliability, maturity and a strong sense of responsibility. His commitment left a lasting positive impression on staff and highlighted his readiness for professional environments.
Success in a competitive apprenticeship process
Tyler’s achievements continued to grow when he secured a Business Operations apprenticeship after performing exceptionally well in a competitive interview. Facing a panel and other candidates, he demonstrated confidence, composure, and professionalism which showed clear evidence of how far he has developed during his time on the programme.
This interview became a standout moment in his journey, showcasing his preparation, communication skills, and ability to present himself effectively.
Growing confidence in the classroom and beyond
Within the classroom and wider college community, Tyler has stepped well outside his comfort zone. He now engages confidently in team meetings, communicates effectively in professional settings, and has built strong relationships with fellow Supported Interns. His willingness to embrace new challenges and actively participate in group activities reflects significant personal and professional growth.

Tyler is now focused on completing his apprenticeship and developing into a valued and trusted member of his workplace team. His determination, resilience, and ambition provide a strong foundation for continued success.
Reflecting on his achievement, Tyler said: “I am very proud of myself and can’t believe I won and now have a job as an apprentice at Essex County Council!”
