Course Overview
The Inspection and Testing Level 3 course is a programme that supports you to develop an understanding of the principles, practices and legislation related to electrical inspection and testing. It is suitable if you are working in the electrical industry and want to strengthen your knowledge of initial verification, periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting of electrical installations.
During the course, you will learn about safe isolation procedures for electrical circuits and installations and understand the difference between initial verification and periodic inspection. Learning focuses on how inspection and testing are carried out safely and correctly, helping you understand professional and regulatory expectations. You will also explore the requirements for completing electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation, alongside the checks needed to confirm the safety of systems and equipment before inspection, testing and commissioning. Commissioning of electrotechnical systems and equipment is covered to help you understand how installations are verified before being put into service. This course provides structured learning to support your professional development in inspection and testing.
By the end of the course, you will have a clearer understanding of inspection and testing processes, documentation and safety requirements, supporting progression within electrical inspection, testing and verification roles. This course is delivered at our Luckyn Lane campus.
It is recommended that applicants have solid electrical experience, including some practical experience in carrying out testing and using test instruments. You should hold a Level 3 diploma in one or more of the following: Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment, Electrotechnical Services or Electrotechnical Services (Experienced Worker), or an equivalent qualification. Alternatively, applicants may hold an ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician, or an Approved Electrician Card.
