Course Overview
This course represents the final stage in training to become a qualified counsellor. Skills are embedded throughout the programme to ensure you continually challenge your own practice and work safely and ethically at all times, particularly as you complete the required 100 placement hours as part of this qualification. You will study a range of counselling modalities, supporting the development of self‑awareness and enabling you to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of clients.
The course ensures you establish a strong core modality in Humanistic counselling, aligned with the BACP ethical framework, while continuing to build your counselling skills alongside reflective and theoretical practice. Theoretical approaches explored include psychodynamic theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, and humanistic approaches such as person‑centred counselling, transactional analysis, Gestalt and existential therapy.
Additional areas of study include sex and sexuality, skills practice, fitness to practise, supervision and trauma, all designed to support your progression into professional counselling practice.
