Course Overview

The Level 2 Diploma in Digital & IT Skills is ideal for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills while preparing for a range of opportunities within the digital and creative industries. Whether you are interested in software and programming, network support or digital design, this course provides a practical introduction to key areas of digital technology.

Throughout the course, you will explore a variety of digital disciplines and develop the knowledge and skills needed to use different digital technologies, systems and software. Learning is designed to help you build confidence, improve your digital capability and gain experience that is relevant to modern workplaces.

As part of the qualification, you will study a mandatory unit alongside a range of optional units that reflect the skills, knowledge and behaviours valued by employers. Areas of study include digital design, digital marketing, IT and network support, software and programming, productivity, machining and manufacturing technology, and digital skills for career progression.

The qualification is also relevant to careers in sectors where digital and IT skills play an important role, including finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing. This broad approach allows you to develop transferable skills while gaining an understanding of how digital technologies are used across different industries.

By the end of the course, you will have developed a broad range of digital and IT skills, gained experience across a variety of digital disciplines, and built an understanding of how technology is used in the workplace. This will help you build confidence in your abilities and strengthen your digital skill set for future opportunities in digital and technology-focused environments.

To study this course you will require a Level 1 qualification or 2 GCSEs at grade 3 including a grade 3 in either maths or English.

Assessment for this course will include practical assessments, portfolio work, written assignments, project work, oral questioning and group discussions.

This course is free to UK learners under 19 who are not in employment

After completing this course, you could progress to a Level 3 digital qualification at South Essex Colleges Group. Alternatively, you could progress to an apprenticeship or employment where you can apply and further develop your digital and IT knowledge and skills
