Course Overview

The Regulations for Electrical Installations Level 3 Certificate (2382‑22) supports you to develop a thorough understanding of the current wiring regulations (BS 7671). This course runs throughout the year and is suitable if you work in electrical installation, design, inspection or testing and need to remain compliant with the latest regulatory requirements. During the course, you will explore how the wiring regulations apply to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, including additions and alterations to existing systems.

Learning focuses on understanding regulatory changes and how they impact everyday electrical installation work, helping you apply the regulations accurately in real working situations. You will cover key updates and requirements within BS 7671, including changes to disconnection times for certain circuits, additional protection requirements for domestic installations, considerations for arc fault detection devices, methods for supporting wiring systems, and updated inspection and testing procedures. These topics help you understand how safety and compliance are maintained across different types of installations.

The course also covers the scope, object and fundamental principles of the regulations, definitions, assessment of general characteristics, protection for safety, and the selection and erection of electrical equipment. You will explore special installations or locations, alongside the latest amendments and appendices of the wiring regulations. Delivered as a classroom‑based theoretical course, learning focuses on developing your ability to reference and apply the wiring regulations to situations you may encounter on site.

By the end of the course, you will have a clear understanding of how to navigate and use the wiring regulations to meet current industry requirements. This course will be delivered at our Basildon College's Luckyn Lane campus.

There are no specific requirements for this course.
