Course Overview

The Digital Support and Security T Level is designed for learners who are interested in working in technical digital roles that support systems, users and organisations. It suits those who enjoy problem solving and practical learning, and who want to develop both technical knowledge and real workplace skills within the digital sector.

Throughout the course, learners build a strong understanding of data and digital systems, how software supports business operations, and the importance of security, testing and planning. They explore digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud‑based systems, and develop awareness of legal, ethical and data protection responsibilities. Learning reflects real workplace scenarios, helping learners understand how digital technologies are used to analyse issues, support users and maintain secure systems. Learners also develop practical skills related to digital support services, including communication, fault analysis and problem resolution.

Depending on their chosen specialism and industry placement, learners focus on areas such as digital infrastructure, network cabling or digital support roles. Core knowledge is assessed through an examination, with practical skills demonstrated through an employer‑set project. An extended industry placement is a key part of the programme, allowing learners to gain hands‑on experience in a real workplace while developing job‑specific technical skills.

By the end of the course, learners will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment, apprenticeships or higher‑level study within digital support, infrastructure or security‑focused roles. This course is delivered at our Centre for Digital Technologies in Basildon.
