Careers Advice

Careers coaches – further education

Our qualified careers coaches deliver one-to-one and group sessions in careers, information, advice and guidance (CIAG) to support a wide range of activities.

The activities are designed to engage students in their career progression, enhancing opportunities for personal and skills development. The service supports students progression into education, training or work.

The team supports students at all levels from entry courses right up to level 4.

General careers interviews

During a careers interview the careers coach will discuss strengths, personal qualities, skills and attributes and possible barriers that may affect end goals being achieved.

Exploring specific career ideas and identifying the different routes into chosen career paths will equip you in achieving your ambitions. A careers interview will give you the information to allow you to make informed decisions on your progression and career paths.

Employability

Helps you to identify the skills that are required for employment and equip you with the skills set to enable you to produce CVs, apply for jobs, gain interview skills and job preparation. Through workshops, tutorials and one-to-one sessions, you will gain the knowledge to allow you to effectively search for employment.

Education progression

Empowers you to make informed decisions on your course progression and opens up the options available to you to support you as you work towards your careers goals.

Apprenticeship advice

Working in partnership with the South Essex College Workforce Team we can provide you with information about apprenticeships and the different levels available, which allows you to explore apprenticeships as an alternative progression route into your chosen career.

To find out more, please contact our Apprenticeship team at apprenticeships@southessex.ac.uk

Higher education

Through the delivery of workshops and one-to-one guidance, you will be supported in applying for entry into higher education. We can help you construct personal statements and student finance applications. You will be equipped with the knowledge to identify what degrees are suitable to achieve your career goals.

All of the above areas can be covered in both one-to-one sessions and group workshops (organised by your tutor).
