Information for students
Work experience is a great way to put your learning into practice and gain valuable skills in a real working environment. You'll develop the knowledge and confidence employers are looking for, while exploring potential career paths within your chosen industry. Placements help you build professional networks, enhance your CV and take an important step towards future employment, apprenticeships or further training.
Placement hours vary depending on the course and qualification, ranging from 36 to 750 hours over one or two academic years.
You will need to provide your placement details so we can complete the necessary checks, including health and safety compliance. Once all requirements have been met, the placement can be approved.
Throughout your placement, you will record your hours through GroFar. Your employer will receive a weekly automated email to confirm your attendance.
Industry placements give learners valuable experience in a real working environment, helping them develop practical skills and prepare for their future careers. Placement requirements vary by course, with learners completing between 36 and 250 hours of work-based learning supported by our college throughout the process.
Industry placements are a mandatory part of every T Level programme and are designed to provide substantial industry experience. T Levels are gradually being rolled out to colleges across the UK and are the equivalent to 3 A-Levels. Depending on the course, learners will complete between 315 and 750 hours with their employer, enabling them to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to successfully transition into employment.
T Level industry placements require some additional documentation, but our team will support you through the process every step of the way.
At the end of the placement, we will ask your employer to complete a short feedback form to help evaluate your progress, skills development and overall experience.
