South Essex Colleges Group (SECG) was delighted to welcome Chisola Chitambala, who is a candidate in the current series of the BBC’s The Apprentice and will this week, be appearing in round five of the long running show.
The businesswoman is a former student of the college where she studied a Fast Track Diploma in Business and Finance from 2010-2011.
During her visit to Southend City College, Chisola met with current business students and talked to them about her amazing journey, followed by a lively question and answer session.
After leaving the college Chisola worked as a nurse and then returned to studies, attaining an Master of Business Administration (MBA). She then set up her own company, CB Virtual Assistant with a partner.
Chisola said: “We formed the business to revolutionise the way entrepreneurs connect with vetted investors, eliminating the need for tedious bank loans or endless presentations".
“One of my biggest business successes to date was when, within just six months of launching our venture, a prominent company approached us with an acquisition offer. Despite the tempting offer and the significant financial incentive, my business partner and I declined. Looking back, I am grateful we did, as it allowed us to stay true to our vision and ultimately build a business that is still thriving.”
Southend City College Principal, Nicki Kelly said: "We were thrilled to meet with Chisola, her incredible story inspired and encouraged our students and proves that hard work and determination can lead to great things. We are very proud of her and wish her every success both in The Apprentice and her business.”
Chisola said that she believes that she deserves Lord Sugar’s investment because she is a natural leader with an unwavering commitment to excellence.
She added: “No problem is too great for me to find a solution to, and I thrive in high-pressure situations.”
