Level 3 Year Two Policing students travelled to the Metropolitan Police Public Order Training Centre in Gravesend, Kent to gather some insight from the police officers and their training regimes.
The students observed tranings in different scenraios, such as a Petrol Bomb Demonstration and other public order situations. Metropolitan Police Sergeant Rob Simmond said: "Students asked a wide variety of questions, from what’s it’s like to go to the toilet in full riot gear to asking what it feels like to be on fire.
"The instructors were impressed with how the policing students engaged with the experience and to reward their enthusiasm, they were given an unplanned behind the scenes tour."
Policing student, Molly Cuzen said: "We saw a lot of training in public order offenses and the way it was presented and shown was incredible. The officers training presented shields and scenarios incredibly and made a fantastic view on how situations can escalate."
"Seeing different parts of training helped me understand how the police are trained in different scenarios and hearing their knowledge and experiences made the trip engaging."
