A talented, dedicated and inspiring media student

Ben Whitehead has been an exemplary learner throughout his Level 1 Media course, consistently demonstrating dedication, creativity and a strong commitment to his studies. With near‑perfect attendance and a proactive approach to learning, Ben is often ahead of his peers in completing work. He responds to feedback with maturity and professionalism, applying it thoughtfully to improve his outcomes. Even when faced with challenges such as finding certain aspects of Maths difficult, Ben continues to persevere and give his very best effort.

A positive and supportive presence in the classroom

Ben is a friendly, approachable and well‑respected member of the group. He builds strong relationships with his peers and contributes to a positive, supportive classroom environment. His kind nature and willingness to engage with others make him a valued presence within the cohort and help foster a collaborative atmosphere.

A standout achievement: writing and publishing a book

One of Ben’s most impressive accomplishments during his time at college was writing and publishing a book while completing his Level 1 Media studies. Despite the demands of coursework, he successfully managed both commitments without falling behind. This achievement highlights his exceptional time management, creativity and determination, qualities that set him apart as a highly motivated learner with clear ambition.

Looking ahead: a future in media and writing

Ben plans to progress onto Level 2 Media to continue developing his skills. His long‑term aspiration is to become a published crime author, building on the creativity and discipline he has already demonstrated.

Reflecting on his achievement, Ben said: “I studied Level 1 Media. I really wanted to be creative and make short films. I really enjoyed the course, it was great fun. Long term, I want to be a writer, especially crime. I’d tell other people to jump at the opportunity of doing this course.”

Ben’s creativity, resilience and commitment to his goals make him a highly deserving recipient of Media Student of the Year and an excellent ambassador for the college. 

Ben's journey is a great example of what can be achieved through hard work, resilience and a genuine passion for creativity. Balancing his studies while successfully writing and publishing a book is a remarkable accomplishment and demonstrates the ambition and determination that will serve him well in the future. As he progresses on and continues to pursue his dream of becoming a published author, he does so with a strong foundation of skills, confidence and experience.
