Celebrating Success 2026: Business and Logistics Student of the Year – Mohdjamiu Lawal

Success in business and logistics requires ambition, dedication and a willingness to make the most of every opportunity. Mohdjamiu Lawal has demonstrated these qualities throughout his time at Thurrock College, earning recognition as a nominee for Business and Logistics Student of the Year. Through his strong academic performance, excellent attendance and positive approach to learning, Mohdjamiu has established himself as a highly motivated learner with clear goals for the future and the determination to achieve them.

Thurrock College is proud to recognise Mohdjamiu Lawal as a nominee for Business and Logistics Student of the Year. Throughout both his BTEC National Foundation Diploma and Extended Diploma in Business, Mohdjamiu has demonstrated outstanding dedication to his studies. He has maintained excellent attendance, consistently produced work of a high academic standard and achieved a strong profile of distinctions and merits across his course.

Beyond his academic achievements, Mohdjamiu has made a meaningful contribution to the classroom environment. He is a supportive, friendly and approachable peer who encourages others and helps create a positive, collaborative learning space. His calm manner and willingness to assist classmates have made him a valued member of the group.

A standout moment: Discovery Week at Tilbury Docks

A defining highlight of Mohdjamiu’s journey was his participation in Discovery Week at Tilbury Docks. During this industry‑focused experience, he demonstrated initiative, professionalism and strong teamwork while engaging with real‑world logistics environments. He represented the college with maturity and enthusiasm, leaving a positive impression on staff and industry partners.

Ambition and future plans

Mohdjamiu has clear ambitions for the future. He plans to take a gap year to pursue opportunities in football before progressing to university to study Business Management. He has also expressed interest in a future career in investment banking, reflecting his drive and long‑term focus.

His determination, academic strength and professional attitude make him an excellent candidate for Business and Logistics Student of the Year.

Mohdjamiu’s reflections: “I live in Grays and the college was close. The college and the course were very good and there wasn’t one favourite part because I enjoyed everything about it. It was very friendly and inclusive. I would like to pursue investment banking. I’m going to take a gap year and then go to university.” 

Mohdjamiu's journey is a fantastic example of how hard work, professionalism and a positive attitude can create strong foundations for future success. From achieving excellent results in his studies to representing the college with maturity during industry experiences, he has consistently demonstrated commitment and ambition. His plans to pursue opportunities in football before progressing to university and working towards a career in investment banking reflect both his confidence and drive. We are incredibly proud of Mohdjamiu's achievements and his well-deserved recognition as a Business and Logistics Student of the Year nominee, and we look forward to seeing where his ambition and determination take him next.
