Jeremy’s reflections: “I feel very good to win this award. I chose to study at Thurrock when I was deciding between theatre arts and music. I was 16 when I joined, and I was more interested in music than acting, so I went with what felt true to me. I’m more than happy with the choice I made. The thing I enjoyed most was working together with other musicians in rehearsal spaces, that was my favourite part, always the fun part. My greatest achievement so far is playing in multiple acts, in bands, solos or duos. My favourite place I’ve performed was in Level 3 Year 1 at Chinnery’s, and Level 3 Year 2 at Fickle Pickle. I want to go on and make music, join a band and keep having fun with music.”
Jeremy's journey highlights the value of resilience, self-belief and embracing new opportunities. From developing his confidence as a solo performer to collaborating successfully with fellow musicians in bands and ensemble performances, he has made outstanding progress throughout his course. His quiet determination, positive attitude and commitment to his craft have made him a valued member of the college community and a worthy recipient of the Music Student of the Year award. We are incredibly proud of everything Jeremy has achieved and look forward to seeing where his passion for music takes him next, whether that is performing, creating original music or continuing to collaborate with other musicians in the future.
