Abbie’s reflections: “I started this course not only to become a qualified teacher and improve my practice, but also to prove to myself that I had the capability to achieve it. And now I’ve won an award for my achievement. It means so much to me that I was able to prove it to myself and also be recognised by others proving that my hard work truly payed off. SECG has fantastic tutors and support staff. They are all brilliant and truly care about individual wellbeing and success. The smaller cohorts mean they have the time to dedicate to each student, guiding them to be their best selves. It was exactly what I needed to navigate my self‑doubts and learning needs. I would-and have recommended the course to anyone who wishes to become a great teacher.”

Abbie’s journey is a powerful example of how perseverance, self-belief and the right support can lead to remarkable achievement. Throughout her studies, she has consistently gone above and beyond, not only developing her own knowledge and skills but also helping those around her to succeed. Her resilience in the face of personal challenges, combined with her passion for education and desire to inspire future learners, make her a worthy recipient of the Teaching and Learning Student of the Year award. We are incredibly proud of everything Abbie has achieved and look forward to seeing her continue to grow as an educator, using her experience, empathy and enthusiasm to make a positive impact in the classroom and beyond.
