The Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector (Beauty Pathway) Level 1 Certificate supports you to gain a basic understanding of the hair and beauty industry if you are just starting out. It is suitable if you are interested in the beauty sector and want an introductory course that prepares you for further study or work within salon environments. 

During the course, you can explore the beauty pathway through practical and creative activities. You will be introduced to professional salon practices, including presenting a professional image, carrying out salon reception duties and following health and safety procedures. 

Learning focuses on helping you understand how beauty services are delivered and the expectations of working within a salon setting. You will also develop introductory practical skills in areas such as basic manicure and pedicure treatments, nail art application, skincare and basic make‑up techniques. 

The course includes creative activities such as themed face painting and producing a hair and beauty image, helping you build confidence and express your creativity while learning industry‑related skills. Alongside practical learning, you will develop teamwork and communication skills by working with others in a salon environment. Maths and English are included to support your learning and progression. 

By the end of the course, you will have developed a foundation understanding of the beauty industry and the skills needed to progress onto further hair and beauty courses or continued training within the sector.
