Level 1 Diploma in Construction Skills (Multi Skills)

The Construction Skills (Multi Skills) Level 1 Diploma is designed for learners who want to gain a broad introduction to construction and develop practical skills used across a range of trades. It is ideal for those who enjoy hands‑on learning and want to explore different areas of the construction industry before deciding on a more specialised route. 

Throughout the course, learners develop core construction skills including brickwork, painting and decorating, tiling and plastering. These practical, workshop‑based sessions are designed to reflect real working tasks, helping learners understand how different trades come together on site and how skills are applied safely and effectively within the construction environment. 

In addition to the core units, learners follow one of two pathway options depending on campus location. The Carpentry and Joinery pathway is delivered at the Stephenson Road campus and focuses on developing basic woodworking and carpentry skills. The Plumbing and Electrical pathway is delivered at the Thurrock campus and provides an introduction to basic plumbing and electrical practices used in the sector. It is important that learners apply to the campus that delivers the pathway they wish to study. 

By the end of the course, learners will have developed a range of practical construction skills and a clearer understanding of the industry and its career pathways. This qualification supports progression into further construction study, apprenticeships or entry‑level roles, helping learners move forward with increased confidence and direction.
