Level 1 Diploma Plumbing Studies

The Plumbing Level 1 Diploma supports you to gain a practical introduction to the plumbing industry and develop the basic skills needed to progress into further training or study. It is suitable if you are new to plumbing and want to understand how plumbing systems are installed, repaired and maintained within domestic and construction environments. 

During the course, you can explore how the construction industry is structured and how plumbing fits within wider building projects. Learning focuses on fundamental safe working practices, site preparation and understanding environmental and sustainability measures used in domestic dwellings. You will develop practical skills working with a range of plumbing materials and systems, including above‑ground drainage, copper pipework, plastic pressure pipework and low‑carbon steel pipework. 

The course introduces you to the installation, repair and maintenance of basic plumbing systems, helping you build confidence using tools and following correct procedures. You will also develop an understanding of plumbing science, supporting your knowledge of how plumbing systems operate and why accuracy and safety are essential. 

Throughout the course, learning reflects real working practices and supports you to develop practical confidence in a workshop setting. By the end of the course, you will have developed a foundation of plumbing knowledge, practical skills and workplace awareness. 

This qualification supports progression onto Level 2 plumbing courses, apprenticeships or continued training within the plumbing and construction sector. This course is delivered at our Thurrock campus, as well as our Luckyn Lane campus.
