Course Overview

Please note: Adult Maths and English Provision – Academic Year 2026–27

Beginning September 2026, the College will no longer offer face-to-face classroom-based courses for GCSE Maths, GCSE English, Functional Skills Maths, or Functional Skills English. All delivery will move to our online distance learning platform, PASS TECH. PASS TECH is an independent learning platform designed for learners who are able to study independently. Learners will work through the learning materials, assessments, and mock examinations online at their own pace.

Before enrolling, learners must ensure they have access to a suitable laptop or computer with a working camera, reliable internet access, and the ability to study independently.

English and maths qualifications are the fundamental building blocks to achieving your goal. Whether that involves further education, going to university or training to improve your employability. This course is unsuitable for learners who already hold a GCSE grade C / grade 4 or above. The course is offered during daytime and in the evenings.

Functional Skills qualifications can also be completed online, giving you greater flexibility and the opportunity to study in a way that suits your schedule and learning style. Following an initial assessment, you will be placed at the right level for you, either Entry 3, Level 1 or Level 2. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE Grade 4 or C. You can study online anytime and from anywhere, making it easier to balance learning with work or family commitments. These qualifications are ideal if you are looking to progress to further education, university or improve your employability.

On completion, many learners choose to progress to GCSE English or maths to take their learning even further. The course will run as follows: Entry 3 and Level 1: 4 months, Level 2: 6 months, with an ongoing cycle of start dates. The course is free for UK adults without a GCSE Grade 4 or C or Level 2 equivalent in English or maths. However, please note that this course is not suitable for learners who already hold a GCSE Grade 4 or C or above.

You will berequired to complete an initial assessment and then a diagnostic assessment to determine which appropriate level will be set E.G. Entry 1 2 and 3 or Level 1 or Level 2 (which is equivalent to Grade 4 /C grade GCSE).
Assessment is through an exam.
This course is free for UK adults if you don’t already have a grade 4/C in GCSE or Level 2 equivalent in English & Maths
Learners can progress to GCSE English or Maths.
