Course Overview

The iStudy Self‑Harm and Suicide Awareness Level 2 course supports you to develop awareness and understanding of self‑harm and suicide, and how these issues can be recognised and prevented. Delivered through distance learning with online workshops via Microsoft Teams, this course is suitable if you want to build knowledge that can be applied in both personal and professional settings.

During the course, you can explore the key concepts surrounding self‑harm and suicide, including common myths, contributing factors and warning signs. Learning focuses on helping you recognise when someone may be at risk and understand the importance of responding appropriately, sensitively and responsibly. You will also learn about principles of prevention and how support can be offered to individuals who may be experiencing distress.

The course explores how to communicate effectively, how to signpost individuals to appropriate support, and how to support those affected by grief or suicide. This flexible online course supports you to build confidence and awareness around a challenging but important topic.

By the end of the course, you will have a clearer understanding of self‑harm and suicide awareness, prevention approaches and supportive responses, helping you contribute to safer, more informed and compassionate environments where wellbeing is prioritised.
