Course Overview
The iStudy Bookkeeping and Computerised Accounts (Sage) Level 1 Award supports you to develop an introduction to both manual and computerised accounting. It is suitable if you want to build basic bookkeeping knowledge and understand how accounts are managed using digital systems such as Sage.
During the course, you can learn about the roles and responsibilities involved in accounting and bookkeeping, alongside basic mathematical knowledge linked to finances and business transactions. Learning focuses on helping you understand how financial information is recorded, organised and managed in a business context.
You will also explore how to work with business documents and gain an introduction to computerised accounting, using Sage software to understand how financial data is processed digitally.
This supports you to build confidence working with accounting systems commonly used in workplaces. The course is delivered online, allowing you to study flexibly and fit learning around other commitments. If you choose to study on a part‑time daytime basis, delivery may also take place at the Centre for Digital Technologies in Basildon.
By the end of the course, you will have developed a foundation understanding of bookkeeping and computerised accounts that supports progression into further study or continued development in accounting‑related areas.
To study this course, you must provide one of the following forms of identification: Valid in-date passport (any nationality), Signed in-date UK photocard driving licence, UK biometric residence permit card, Birth certificate (BUT, if a birth certificate is presented as proof of identification, an additional form of identification such as a signed bank card, utility bill or a letter issued by a government department must also be provided).

You will be assessed on this course through the completion of online modules. As this is a fully online course, you will need good organisational skills and are encouraged to commit around 2 to 3 hours of study per evening to complete the programme within the 6 week timescale.
You will need access to an internet enabled desktop or laptop computer and an active email account. Please note that this course is not compatible with tablets or smartphones.
This course is fully funded and free for learners aged 19 or over who are currently living in England and meet the eligibility and entry criteria. Please note that funding rules are occasionally subject to change. Important Please note that we can only offer this course for free if it is completed within 6 weeks.
If you start the course and do not complete within this time you will incur a £125 administration fee to cover the costs involved in your sign up. However, providing you do 2-3 hours study per night we are confident that you will complete within the 6 week timeframe.
