Course Overview
The iStudy Understanding Autism Level 2 course supports you to develop an understanding of autism and the principles involved in supporting autistic individuals. Delivered through distance learning with online workshops via Microsoft Teams, this course is suitable if you want to improve your awareness of autism in education, work, care or everyday settings.
During the course, you can explore the key characteristics of autism and how autism can affect communication, social interaction and day‑to‑day experiences. Learning focuses on understanding how autistic individuals may perceive and respond to the world differently, including sensory processing, perception and cognition. You will also learn about the importance of a person‑centred approach and how positive communication methods can support wellbeing and independence. The course explores ways to support positive behaviour and promote inclusion, helping you understand how environments and interactions can be adapted to better meet individual needs. This flexible online course supports you to build knowledge, confidence and inclusive awareness.
By the end of the course, you will have a clearer understanding of autism and how thoughtful, person‑centred support can help autistic individuals live healthy, fulfilling and supported lives.
To study this course, you must provide one of the following forms of identification: Valid in-date passport (any nationality), Signed in-date UK photocard driving licence, UK biometric residence permit card, Birth certificate (BUT, if a birth certificate is presented as proof of identification, an additional form of identification such as a signed bank card, utility bill or a letter issued by a government department must also be provided).

This course is fully funded and free for learners aged 19 or over who are currently living in England and meet the eligibility and entry criteria. Please note that funding rules are occasionally subject to change.
Please note that we can only offer this course for free if it is completed within 6 weeks. If you start the course and do not complete within this time you will incur a £125 administration fee to cover the costs involved in your sign up. However, providing you do 2-3 hours study per night we are confident that you will complete within the 6 week timeframe.
